External Rendering

The application of new traditional lime based render onto the external face of an external wall.

This work may involve the removal of damaged or non traditional renders like  cement based render which can be detramental to the performance of a traditionally built stone wall,  or simply a new application onto a properly prepared existing or new stone wall.

A before and after shot of some external rendering to a 17th Century traditional Lakeland Farmhouse. The 'harling' (type of render process) was done using hot lime mixes.

Below is an photo of an existing chimney stack which we re-rendered in Lime with a float finish to provide a fine textured finish with ashlar joints etched in.

The three photo's below show a large re-rendering project at Halstead Hall where we used Lime render with a float finish. A lot of care and attention was needed working off extensive multi level scaffolding to ensure the existing stone hood mouldings and surrounds where carefully retained.

These two photos below show an example of NHL Lime Harling on a block of terrace properties.
